Campaign

A set of organized actions to reach a specific goal. It combines a set of other reactive actions, like protests and boycotts, for example.  This can be a citizen campaign, a political campaign, a campaign by a group of organizations, etc. The actions can be distributing promotional materials, holding rallies, public speaking, and other such actions.

For the past 3 years the youth organization Australian Youth Climate Coalition has led a campaign against the second biggest bank of Australia, Westpac, as it was the only Australian bank willing to lend money to Adani’s controversial Carmichael coal mine project in Queensland.

Complaint Form

In the European Union, every citizen is entitled to submit a complaint about any measure or absence of measure or practice by a Member State. A complaint form can be submitted to European Commission and will be taken up as long as it concerns the Union law in an Member State, that means it does not consider national problems, or those that involve private individuals or bodies and do not involve public authorities.

European Ombudsman

In case of a citizen, company or association considers that the European Commission has not handled with properly with a request submitted as a complaint for, the European Ombudsman can be contacted.  Ombudsman is elected by parliament/government and basically operate as public advocates, in matters of rights violation etc. Especially effective - or meant to be - in cases where an individual/public body is mistreated by a branch of government or public agency. They set up mediation sessions etc. In short, they are of the people, and for the people.

Confining the Market

Limiting the scope of the market reach. In economics, a confined market is like putting the objectives of the market in a straight-jacket. It narrows the scope and deliberately manipulates the intention of the mechanism, thus changing the natural pattern of productivity. It is an act done authoritatively to suit a preconceived purpose.

Methods to confine the environmental market sector (for conservation/mitigation banking). With Trump administration attempting to favor natural resource use for energy sector, conservation banking will remain a confined market in that it will address land, but not habitats and species.

Consultation

Official authorities can hold a series of consultations with experts, agents or other parties and stakeholders involved. Evidence can be given in a written or in oral form.

Environmental Code - Germany

A Project Group in the Federal Ministry for the Environment took up work on the Environmental Code again and entered in close consultations with stakeholders and the federal Länder.

Counter Expertise

To reach for knowledge from experts in order to contest the legitimacy of an opinion from opponent group. Very often there is no clear line between science and assumption, and

therefore this process is important for decision-making.

Creation of Shared Goals or a Vision

When multiple individuals or entities with a common interest develop a vision or statement on their shared goals.

A ‘green guarantee’ could stop Brexit ruining our environment

The green party guarantee

Many environmental activists, during the transition phase of Brexit, have urged for the development and release of a statement of environmental goals that they want to be maintained during this political shift. It is a way to formally share wishes and draw attention to the environment, which has been put on the back-burner during the Brexit negotiations.
The Green Party has released a "Green Guarantee" as a political platform for their party. This is related but not the same use of the term "Green Guarantee" in the context of Brexit (as detailed above). The Brexit-spurred "Green Guarantee" has not yet been created or published."Green Guarantee could stop Brexit form ruining our environment."
