Educational programming

Organizations/local governments/individuals/private companies set up community-level programming to include, educate, and learn from the public - through arts, design, entertainment, etc. - in order to create a dialogue and foster environmental stewards.

Examples:

No 9 Arts and the Environment in Toronto, Canada

The No 9 Arts and the Environment works with district school board to go into classrooms for a week to work with students to bring to life their ideas of a 'sustainable city'. Increase culture around environmental awareness. Get youth thinking about green strategies.

Elections

Elections are a process of governance in which the public votes for a party or candidate to represent their interests in government. Elections can also be held to vote on a particular issue, gaining the input of citizens beyond their elected representation; such as a referendum to a current state of legislation or proposing new legislation on key issues.
Important note regarding environment: Environmental issues recently became key-topics during democratic elections. Not considering or denying Climate Change can become problematic when it comes to (re-)elections.

Examples:

How climate denial gained a foothold in the Liberal Party, and why it still won’t go away

Election ploy: why John Howard put climate scepticism on hold in 2006

Climate change 'exaggerated', says former Australian PM

The results of the Australian elections were affected by the scepticism of the Prime Minister John Howard regarding climate change.

Environmental Compliance

EEnvironmental Compliance means conforming to environmental laws, regulations, standards and other requirements such as site permits to operate. Environmental concerns and compliance activities are increasingly being aligned with corporate performance goals and being integrated to some extent in order to avoid conflicts, wasteful overlaps and gaps.
